A wide-ranging investigation into the whereabouts of the Barker-Karpis Gang in the mid-1930s gave cause for the FBI to catalog all the illegal gambling joints in Toledo. There were many, including “a crap and poker room in the rear of the saloon” on the first floor of the Meyerhof: “…most of the patrons at this place are railroad men,” the bureau noted.
